What you need: Corel PSP. Download a 30 day trial
here. The materials: Download
here. Open all
images from the ZIP in PSP.
Save
often. Let's get
started. Good
luck.....
This tutorial is done in PSP
9.
1. Open the MD-CantonBorder.psp. The Borders and
the Fan are made by me using
this tutorial. Shift-D to duplicate and close the
original.
2. Effects > Reflection effects > Kaleidoscope.

3. Open the MD-Canton-Overlay.psp and
copy.
4. Edit > Paste >
Paste as a new layer. No need to move.
5. Lock the black background. Make
sure you are on one of the top layers.
6. Layers > Merge > Merge
visible. Unlock the bottom layer.
7. Image > Canvas size > 400 X
400.

8. Now select the bottom layer
(=blue). Fill with black so you don't have any transparency
left.
9. Now go to the top layer and select
it.
10. Layers >
Duplicate. Immediately lock this duplicate layer. Select the
layer beneath (=blue). If all is well you are on the middle
layer.
11. Effects > Reflection effects > Pattern.

12. Unlock the top layer.
13. You still need to be on the middle
layer (=blue). Set your selection tool to circle (feather
0).

14. Start in the middle and pull a
circle up to the gold and diamond overlay. See screenshot.

15. Double check if you are still on
the pattern layer (=blue). Click delete to remove
the center part.
16. Selections > None. If all
went well you now have this:

17. Stay on the middle
layer.
18. Open one of the Canton images and
copy. I used the Canton Geisha 1.
19. Edit > Paste >
Paste as a new layer. If you did it as this tutorial instructs,
your image is beneath the pearl frame. Move your
image a little bit until it nicely fits in the frame.
20. Layers > Merge > Merge all
flatten.
21. Image > Add borders > 3
Pixels > Symmetric > White. Image > Add borders
> 3 Pixels > Symmetric > Black. Image > Add
borders > 3 Pixels > Symmetric > White.

22. Open
the MD-CantonBorder-2.psp and copy.
23. Edit > Paste >
Paste as a new layer. Move the
border down so it almost touches the white edge.
24. Keep a small black border as on the screenshot
below.
25. Layers > Duplicate. Image
> Flip.
26. Layers > Duplicate. Image
> Free rotation > Rotate > 90 Degrees to the
left. Put
the border in place.
27. Layers > Duplicate. Image
> Mirror.
28. Open the MD-CantonDiamond.psp and
copy. Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer. Put
the diamond on a corner.
29. Layers > Duplicate. Image
> Flip. Layers > Duplicate. Image > Mirror. Layers
> Duplicate. Image > Flip.
If all went well you now have
this:
30. Layers > Merge > Merge all
flatten.
31. Open the MD-CantonFan.psp and copy.
32. Edit > Paste >
Paste as a new layer. Move the Fan
to the right bottom corner.
33. Layers > Duplicate. Image
> Flip. Layers > Duplicate. Image > Mirror. Layers
> Duplicate. Image > Flip.
34. Layers > Merge > Merge all
flatten.
