Tutorial written April 21, 2005.

The basket and watering can were made to go with the Gardening Angel tutorial
but they can be used separately. For this tut we will be using the Gardening Angel
so that the basket and watering can will fit in her hands but If you do not want to
do the Angel you can do yours without it. Gardening Angel Tut.

This tutorial is written using PSP 8.1 but can done in other version with a little
modification of tool locations.

This is a vector tutorial so a working knowledge of PSP is helpful but I will try
to explain so that those fairly new to vectors can follow. If this is your first time
vectoring I suggest you give my Vectors 101 tut a try first before attempting
this tut. Vectors 101

Let's get started!

1. If you have done the Gardening Angel open the saved image of it. Go to Windows,
Duplicate. Close the original. Save this image under a different name.
If you haven't merge all your layers visible, do so now. You can leave the bottom
Raster layer if it has nothing on it. If it does, then merge all layers visible and add
a new Raster layer moving it to the bottom and make it your active layer.

2. First, let's make the basket. Set your foreground color to a nice brown #CA9F81

3. Preset Shapes set to .....

4. Draw out an oval, make sure it fits in the glove on her hand....

Do not convert to Raster yet.

5. Switch your foreground color so that it becomes your background color.

6. Make your Gardening Angel your active layer. (if you're not doing the angel,
add a new Raster layer naming it Spacer). We don't want our shapes on the
same layer.

7. Draw out a horizontal oval across the bottom of the first oval....

8. Click on the Pen Tool to activate your nodes. Bring the middle node on the right up so
that it meets your handle. Bring the left middle node to meet your handle....

9. Add a node at the bottom, move those two nodes so that they square off the
bottom....

10. Pull down on your top center node....

11. Now click back to your handle shape. Move the left middle node back a
little...

12. Back to the other shape. Move the left node to meet the handle...

13. Convert the handle layer and the basket layer to Raster, rename as Handle and
Basket1.

File, Save!

14. Duplicate the Basket 1 layer, rename as Basket 2.

15. Go to Adjust, Brightness and Contrast, Brightness and Contrast. Set Brightness to
8, Contrast should be set to 0.

16. Move this layer up just a little. Look on your Layer Palette, drag this layer so that it
is below your handle layer. Adjust it so that it is just above the front of the basket...

17. Make your Basket 1 your active layer. Go to Effects, Texture Effects, Weave.
In the drop down menu choose Screen door.....

18. Make your Handle your active layer. Go to Effects, Texture Effects, Weave.
Change the Gap and Width size to 2.

19. Make Basket 2 your active layer, apply the above Weave to it. This is what you
should have now....

20. Make Basket 1 your active layer. Set your foreground color to #D2A789

handle to curve the line so that it matches the shape of the basket....

Convert to Raster, rename as Trim.

File, Save!

23. Make Basket 1 your active layer. Go to Selections, Select All, Selections Float,

Selections, Select None.

26. Make your Handle your active layer. Go to Selections, Select All, Selections Float.
Apply the above Cutout except lower the Blur to 3 and raise the Opacity to 80.

Now you have a basket. You can add layers between the front and back of the basket
and add flowers, fruits or vegetables if you'd like.

Save a copy of your basket unmerged by going to Windows, Duplicate. Name the
original and close it. Merge all layers visible of the duplicate except the bottom raster
